Default Getting a new laptop...

Well, I just returned my laptop to bestbuy for the fourth time due to hardware problems. That means that I am going to get credited the amount of whatever I bought mine for towards a new laptop!!! If you have any free time, please go to http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....&type=category and put down your recommendation. I need something that wont hurt to carry around all day

There is a place out of Texas...ill try and get the name that builds custom laptops. (ther are others so look for yourself too) Then you can pick what you want. Depends what you are doing with them. No need to spend money for jus bragging rights. I have a POS low end Laptop form Dell, which I am very happy with BTW. Celeron processor, 256RAM, crap everything. Weighs 7 lbs. Oh yeah has a burner DVD combo. But is functional for the shit I do with it. Cost me 700 w/ wireless G. 650 with out it. THey have a promo for 679 right now i just saw too.

There are thigns you can leave out. Like floppy drives-get a bootable flash drive if you need it. If you run XP you most likely can boot to CD as well. Dell has a very light weight laptop for like 2 G's I think, less or more. That is way small and light.

Post back what you need or are going to do with your laptop...then I can help abit more, eh!

The only thing is that they are crediting me the amount for what my laptop costs, and I have to spend it there. Right now I am looking at this one...

That thing is huge. Make sure you invest in a little midget to follow you around and carry it for you.

Thorugh my dealings with Sony Computers...they suck. Specially the Vaio. Just my opinion but do with it as you may.

On another note... so you got credited for the laptop? I would take that up the chain of command. They are messin with you cuz your a kid. Its not your fault they cant back up their merchandise (4 times was it) Tell them you were buying that laptop cuz the rest of the laptops you carry are shit!!! DUDE dont let them push you around. If I bought a TV there and it kept ****ing up theyd give me my money back...none of this credit shit. Tell them your unhappy with their selection of laptop brands and would like to go elswhere. (give a name they dont carry-tell them you have been doing research and they rival what you carry and for less) Then if you have to bring an old person(i.e. parent) to help you. It s realy funny how Gray hair people get shit done. I have tested that theory many times. Now that Im older not such a problem. You should be able to get your money back.

On even another note...those things weight 10 tons too. But I wouldnt 'weigh' my purchase on weight. lol

Just my dollars worth.

that was a vaio that i returned 4 times. this is the third year i have had that laptop, and it all really started around last thanksgiving. the other problem is that my parents are 2 hours away. I could always drive home to get this fixed, or just tell them which one i want. they do have a crappy selection.

Do post what you are goingn to do with this machine. I have buddies who use ithem for rendering, audio, modeling, down to word processing. You can waste your money. I fyou find a laptop that fits your needs with less money you can put that money elsewhere. Jus a thought.

First thing I did when I received my laptop over a year ago was reinstall the OS. The OS's they ship with have lots of extras most people dont use and they end up messing the Intall of the OS up sooner rather then later. (specially windows)

well I already have a desktop computer that i built. I need something that will be very portable, since I plan on carrying it around all day. My old laptop was 8.9 pounds.. i bought it for features instead of what i really needed one for. I also need a hard drive big enough to dual boot two os. i need firewire, usb, at least cdrw/dvd(rw would be nice), and integrated wireless. I dont want to have less than 512mb ram, nothing less than a 60gb hd.

K...since you said you need to buy it from Best Buy I would look at the Toshiba's.
Check- http://www.bestbuy.com search for Toshiba laptops and look at them.
This one I beleive there was one for 1000 bucks has everything you asked for.

Others there are but price goes up. Youll get better video, more Hard drive space, memory, and toots and whistles. If you just doing word processing, and basic shit you dont need the awesoem video, huge Processor, or big ass screen. With those kinda of things you get a laptop that is heavy 'no ifs and or butts'. (yes I said butts!!!)

So look at those. See what you think. Let me know if you have any ?'s boout them. Hope this helps.
